11th Mumbai Film Festival comes to a Close

Mumbai November 5, 2009: An incredible end to an exceptional start! The curtain closed on the 11th edition of Mumbai Film Festival organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) at Mumbai amidst the whos who of the of Indian and World cinema gracing the closure of the event with their presence. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award for completing 40 years in the film industry. His oeuvre comprises from rib-tickling comedies to tear-jerkers to subtle, nuanced performances in art-house films. It can be said without doubt that there is nothing in acting that Mr. Bachchan hasnt tried his hand at and succeeded. Mr. Theo Angelopoulos, the maestro from Greece receive the International Lifetime Achievement award for giving us thought-provokin g and visually appealing cinema.

Mumbai, November 2, 2009 After a buzzing weekend at the 11th Mumbai Film Festival, the tempo and spirit continued on Monday, as the day witnessed a series of world class film screenings including Steven Soderberghs Girlfriend Experience, Toronto International Film Festival Award winning The Man Beyond the Bridge, Wrong Rosary, Eastern Plays amongst many others.

Mumbai, October 31, 2009: With over more than 40 films screenings at three different locations on Saturday, November 1, the 11th Mumbai Film Festival is rearing to go! The flavor for today was dominated by World Cinema movies from various countries of the world. The press had an opportunity to interact with the cast and crew members of the handpicked best movies from different parts of the world. Starting from our very own Kashmir was Zero Bridge (USA/India). Addressing the press, director Tariq Tapa and actor Mohammad Imran Tapa shared their experience on the film.

11th Mumbai Film Festival embraces Regional Movies on 1st November

Mumbai, November 1, 2009: After a stupendous World Cinema showcase on October 31, the mood for today, November 1 at the Mumbai Film Festival has shifted to the Indian shores. Apart from the varied film screenings at the 11th Mumbai Film Festival, regional films from Maharashtra and Bengal also took centre stage on November 1. Marathi films Gandha and Natarag and Bengali film Abohomaan were screened through the day. While Gandha and Abohomaan are screening as a part of the Indian Frame section, Natarang is screening in Above The Cut section. Indian Frame showcases the best 15 Indian films made during last one year. Above The Cut presents 14 first feature films of extra ordinary cinematic merit. Gandha is a directed by Sachin Kundalkar and stars Milind Soman, Sonali Kulkarni, Neena Kulkarni and Amrut Subhash.
