Just got to read A Thousand Splendid Suns..Khaled Hosseini,..read it with a rare enchantment  singular to hosseini's writes. He's one  writing as if totally unaware of the reader's presence. The sights, smells, the dialectic flavors of Afghanistan..A spell binding epic,in the strain of a period romance...focussed on the plight of women in war torn country.Four decades of turmoil/personal devastation and survival(the most basic of instincts..The undauanted spirit/the startling heroism..is dizzying

We have a tradition of reading Vishnu Shahstranaamam, often ,if not everyday, from Vaikuntha Ekadasi to Kartik purnima,The reason i dont really know or never dared to ask.All the women folk do so do we.About Vishnu Shahastra naam , Iknow it was recited by Bhismpitamah on his death-bed of arrows,to Yudhistra's queries of which mantras, which lord's name would give mankind instant peace..and thus flowed the 1000names of Lord Vishnu from Bhishma ,Om Visham Vishnu Vashatkaro Bhootbhavya Bhvatprabhu:

contd..the Israelis, the Russians,Chinese& Saudis..and then sit back and watch the game...C.I.A.'s best ever. They make sure that Backman willnot survive...the critical question is who will do him in.....in that will be the answers the C.I.A.....is looking for...it's gripping style of narration is only superceded by "The Last Juror",another bestseller by the same writer.."The Last Juror",as the name indicates is about divine retribution,Grisham in top gear/page turning urgency so vital Grisham....

@Raviteja....Reading John Grisham's "The Broker"..The outgoing President Morgan grants a contoversial last minute pardon to Joel Backman,a notorios Washington power broker;after tremendous pressure by the C.I.A.backman had supposedly ,in his heydays had obtained secretsthat could compromise the world's most sophisticated satellite surveillance system. He's smuggled out in a military cargo plane, given a new identity,After he's settled in his new life the C.I.A. will leak information to his hunter

..just the drone of the a.c. and heavily curtained windows...wandering mind in replay mode..not much to do..as each minute is a 100yrs old....luckily Paulo coelho's "Like the flowing River ",is lying around like the most familiar sight..God knows how many times ive read it...and still it says so much each time i pick it up,mainly for browsing but end up reading from "prepared for battle but with a few doubts.." to"my funeral"...."some final Prayers"...some resurrurection of sorts happens inside

Arjun ,as i undrestand, was in midst of a personal crisis, bewildered ..with a confused perspective..hence the quest & question ....for a guru...and answers....If we seek and accept ...i guess all the answers are within us only if we care to listen carefully.the 2nd chap is in many ways a complete gist of krisn's Geeta.....i find great solace in it ,in all times...apart from everything i find the relation between krisn and Arjun very endearing..esp.arjun as he's made himself dear to his guru

well last night i got the chance to read the 2nd chp. of the Geeta.....must say it was unputdownbble....Amazing how krishn choose Arjun.this was my misconcept/actually aarjun chose Krishn as his guru cf.verse 7 where a bebwildered arjun beeches krishna to teach him and surrenders himself up completely....so its always the diciple who chooses his guru

@Ravi Chekka,....well reading Emotional Inteeligence.....its taking longer to read and digest.Well reading fiction is easier as you dont have to apply ourself too much/just strain your credulity to some extent and you are done..........whereas self improvement books find me me straining myself a bit too much.....not all i subscribe to....Like when I was reading Conversations With God........good for those looking for answers/ i felt the author is too Right Brained(with due apologies
